Ethical business fashion

Working in business you want to make sure you look smart and professional but this can often come at a cost. For many of us we don’t have the money to splash out on expensive business wear, so here we show how we created a chic business look for under £25…

We went charity shopping in Leicester and found some bargains, and guess what…in the process you’re helping to save the planet too.

Did you know its takes 3,781 liters of water to make a pair of jeans, from the production of the cotton to the delivery of the final product to the store. That equates to the emission of around 33.4 kilograms of carbon equivalent. If that is for just one pair of jeans, imagine the environmental cost for everything in our wardrobes. So as women in business lets do our bit to help reduce carbon emissions.

The life of a business woman

I’ve just got back from a long day at work and I thought I’d share my experience of what it’s like to be a woman in business.

Having a successful business can take over your life. It can consume every aspect of your life. When you wake up till when you go to bed your thoughts are often consumed with how to make your business a success. But we have to juggle these thoughts along side our every day life. Whether you have family to look after or friends that need supporting, remind yourself that you need to take time out to have FUN!

My average day will consist of getting up and having a coffee, slowly getting ready and preparing for my day ahead. I’ll then have a nice chat with my co workers before getting my head down for the rest of the day. I then make sure I have a nice meal planned for when I get home and will organise to do fun things with friends in the evening. But the best way I distress is by heading to the gym for an hour or so, 3 times a week. It’s important you find a channel through which you can switch off whether that’s finding a new hobby, reading a book, playing a game or like me, heading to the gym. Remember you will be giving 1000% at work if you give 1000% at home too, so give yourself a break and enjoy your time to switch off.  I’m convinced I would not have been as successful as I am, if I had not given myself time to switch off and relax.

The best advice I can give is to always start the day with a good mind-set, create good bonds with your co-workers, step out of your comfort zones, stay social and remember to switch off.

Sending solidarity to all other women out there. To those who may have just started out in business or to those who have been juggling the pressures of work and everyday life for many years, you’ve got this!!!

Sending lots of women in business love,

Ella and Ding
